The crash took place in Westport around 4:20 p.m., Monday, May 23 at 294 Saugatuck Ave.
Mark Lemoult, age 59, of Norwalk, has been identified as the person killed when the crash occurred, said Lt. Matthew Gouveia, of the Westport Police.
The first police and fire personnel to arrive found that two cars collided causing extensive damage to both, police said.
An individual in one of the cars was conscious and able to speak with emergency responders.
That person was extricated by firefighters and transported to the hospital for treatment.
Lemoult was unresponsive and did not have a pulse, police said. He was pronounced dead by medical personnel on the scene, police said.
The crash remains under investigation.
